Emsworth

Emsworth was once a port and fishing village that was known for boat building, rope making and oyster farming. While many of these traditions are long gone – and the former village has become a town – Emsworth has managed to retain much of its old-fashioned charm.

As a small town Emsworth has more than its share of independent shops, and in a recent survey Emsworth received the highest ‘shopper approval rating’ of all of the shopping centres in the local Borough. It is also blessed with a large number of popular eateries, such as 36 On The Quay (where you can enjoy fine dining with a waterside view) and Fat Olives, which occupies what was once a fisherman’s cottage. Of course one of the major attractions of this area is the water and Emsworth is a real paradise for sailors, with a choice of local clubs including Emsworth Sailing Club and Emsworth Slipper Sailing Club.
